Strengthsquest

Megan Goeman

Top 5 Strengths

Relator
People who are strong in the Relator theme enjoy close relationships with others. They find deep satisfaction in working hard with friends to achieve a goal.
Belief
People strong in the Belief theme have certain core values that are unchanging. Out of these values emerges a defined purpose for their life.
Input
People strong in the Input theme have a craving to know more. Often they like to collect and archive all kinds of information.
Positivity
People strong in the Positivity theme have an enthusiasm that is contagious. They are upbeat and can get others excited about what they are going to do.
Developer
People strong in the Developer theme recognize and cultivate the potential in others. They spot the signs of each small improvement and derive satisfaction from these improvements.

*Examples of how these strengths work for me:
Relator: I LOVE being in close relationships with people. Family and friends are irreplaceable in the true sense of the word. There is much to be learned and much to give in these close-nit relationships. Investing in one another is so important to me.
Belief: I wish this was my first strength. I love the Lord and I want to learn to love His laws, because they were made for me as a gift to a Christ-like life. My brother-in-law Rob gave a sermon once about our sinful natures and how we should always be STRIVING TOWARDS HOLINESS... It has really stuck with me.
Input: I wish i felt like this characteristic applied to me more. I want to have a craving for knowledge, rather than feel like I should learn it or am obligated to learn it.
Positivity: I try to be a positive person. Even when things go wrong, there is always a bright side and my mom the cheerleader has really been a role-model for that. She has been around the block a few times and can still find a way to keep that smile on her face.
Developer: I love people watching. I have met various people with creative ways of getting to know and understand others and I would love to be one of those people. In no way should this be confused with being judgemental. I try to strive against my sinful nature in judging others. There of course is work to be done but I love to encourage others and build them up. It is especially important to build up people in their walk with Christ. God's plan is so complicated, enormous, and interweaving- you never know how many people your good attitude and encouragement will reach by the end of the day.

Megan:
The "Baby Girl" has grown into a very insightful & beautiful woman after God's own heart!
You are a wonderful "Relator" because you truly care about others. Your "Belief" system is very much integrated into your relationships. They go hand in hand with each other. You have a heart for the lost and you use all of these strengths to reach out and love those around you. I have seen & experienced the effects you have on people. Your "Input" strength shines through when you don't know the answer, but are willing to go to great lengths to research & find it. (Remember the five different bibles we consulted to gain insight?) The "Positive" attitude shines through even when you have been wronged. Especially your desire to forgive and not to hold on to a grudge. You see the best in people & you want the best for them. The "Developer" strength is cultivated in your organization and planning. I have seen this first hand in South Africa as you brought people together and made each one feel special. The love you have for Christ shines through you and others are drawn to the light you eminate. You understand that the world is a very small place & that we are all brothers & sisters in Christ. As your Daddy says: "There are only two races..the Saved & the Unsaved." You, my beautiful baby girl, truly understand what really matters in this life. The Lord has given you many wonderful gifts to share with others and it warms my heart that you recognize the depth of his love for you! Keep pointing to the Cross! Remember to Keep the Faith, Share God's Grace, & Smile:) I love you!

Why am I in no way surprised by your strengths...yet sometimes i feel like we have so many gifts it is hard to catorgorize them or limit them...yeah anyway ;)

Relator--What do you even say about this...I truly feel that God has given you the ability to relate to people so well. People are drawn to you becuase of the joy the radiates from you Meg. I truly believe that although you might not want this to be your top gift, God has great plans for yout hrough this area. The doors that have been opened and that will continue to open through the relationships that you have with other people will continue to be avenues in which God will use you and speak through you. The greatest thing we can do as Christian is indeed to strive for holiness, but i think we can also strive to love and live well. It is our job to love our neighbors, to be the hands and feet of christ to serve them and I think you do this so well through this gift.

Belief--Salvation and eternity comes to those who believe and you do truly walk and demonstrate such a strong belief in Christ and in his truth and promises. It is so awesome to watch those truths flow easily from even when you aren't necessarily trying.

Input-you are always so willing to find the answer and seek other peoples input when you need advice.

Positive-Your joy overflows from you and it is just so contagious! I love your outlook on things and how you always help keep me in line and give me different perspective and look for the positive in things.

Developer...not gonna lie I don't really understand this one quite as much, but I guess I would say you are definitely the most structured and organized of all of us. You just always have a plan and are so good at keeping things on task and moving in the intended direction!

i think I could go on forever about what a strong girl you are and how many ways Christ used you and works through you! But know that I love you and you are such a blessing to my life. God uses you and works through you! Continue to let him do that and be that channel! Be the hands and feet sister!

I about cried after reading this assessment...I just kept thinking of all of your strengths that this little quiz didn't even begin to touch upon and how many lives have been changed by you little sister! But in response to your top 5...

Relator: People yearn to be with and you and be around you! You have this welcoming presence that puts people at ease and lets them know you are not judging them. You not only connect with people but you put yourself on their level and try to understand where they are coming from...that is such an admirable trait that not everyone possesses!

Belief: Although this is your "2nd" strength, it definately doesn't tail far behind your 1st. Actually, I think that it's a good thing that it's not your first because we always need to be striving to further our faith. We can never believe or trust enough and there is always room for perfection in this area.

Input: This strength might not apply to you much in the sense of math or science, but it definately applies to your spiritual life. You are one of the most inquisitive people I know Meg, and you don't settle for the "biblical answers". You're always questioning and trying to justify God's teachings and His ways and that's wonderful. It's through seeking more that we truly learn His will for our lives.

Positivity: You've definately been tested and tried in this area and you always seem to come out with a smile on your face. You're one of my biggest cheerleaders and I always know that at the end of a long day you'll be there to lift me up. You're smile is definately contagious and I think it is one of your greatest gifts!

Developer: You always find the good in others and that is why you are such a good team player. You have a way of bringing out other's strengths and helping them feel confident in themselves. You're definately a leader Megan, and God has chosen you to puruse that gift!

This was fun...I love being able to tell you what a blessing you are to me, our family, and virtually everyone your ever come in contact with. I love you so much and I pray that these gifts of yours will only continue to grow. Remind yourself daily of the race that your running and of the true prize that lies ahead. There really is only one way to live...for Christ! Keep smiling babe! I love you!

My Dear Megan: Pride is such a small word how I feel about my youngest daughter. Watching you grow into the lovely young woman of faith that you now are has truly been a blessing from God. In looking through the categories of the Strengthquest, I would probably have put them in a slightly differnt order in that all of the virtues listed stem from your deep faith in Jesus. Watching you act & interact with both those whom you already know & with those that you may not yet know, it is very apparent that you are concerned not only with your relationship with them, but with their relationship with Christ. You were a source of inspiration to me as well as I watched you in recent years be a friend to all, confidant to all, and encourager to all. When faced with disappointment or betrayal you always reacted in a Christian way. I could not always say that I would have done the same, and it was heartwarming to observe the grace that you so readily extend to others. As a relator I would simply say that you should just keep on with what you are doing. People gravitate to you and your strong sense of caring gives them cause to trust you. This is summed up by the quote: "People don't care what you think until they think that you care". With you Meg, they seldom doubt that you truly care. Positivity is a new word to me, but I see you as the definition. Your "work ethic" does not allow you to walk away from a problem without attempting to resolve it. Your resourcefulness in doing so is many times a wonder to behold. You have a tenacity of character, and at the same time a tenderness that people are drawn to like a magnet and I hope that you continue to use the occasions to be "salt & light" to those that you come into contact with, as you have in the past. I was so proud of your absolute zeal for making contact & bonding with anyone who would speak with you in Cape Town. Do not lose that drive to bring the love of Jesus to all that will hear. As a relator you excel, not just because you are willing to listen, but also because you are willing to take a stand & to voice your opinions. People respect both when they are accompanied by grace. As a developer, I am reminded of the way that you played organized sports activities. I was always impressed with how you put the good of the team above self accomplishment and gain. It is a rare quality that I was always very proud of you for. You learned the "cheerleading" lessons from your mother very well & you too excel in this with those that you have relationships with. I have no idea what the Lord has in mind for this beautiful, strong daughter of mine, but neither do I have any doubts or fears about your life. Continue to listen for the promptings of the Holy Spirit, strive to be within God's will, share the gospel when given the opportunity & live as though there is no tomorrow & wait for the day when we can hopefully hear "Well done thy good & faithful servant. Enter into My rest"! I love you. Papa
